Information & Insight

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our custom drapery, Bolton workroom, and premium motorization services across the Greater Toronto Area.

The Bolton Workroom & Craftsmanship

Are your window treatments manufactured locally?

Yes. Canadian Drapery Design is a true custom workroom. Unlike many retailers who act as middlemen and outsource labor, we cut, measure, and sew your window treatments in our dedicated Bolton, Ontario sewing shop. This ensures absolute quality control and flawless pattern matching.

What level of experience do your tailors have?

Our master seamstresses and tailors bring over 30 years of dedicated bespoke sewing experience to our workroom. They are experts in handling premium residential textiles, intricate sheers, and complex structural folds like custom Ripplefold and Pinch Pleat drapery.

Do you offer a warranty on your craftsmanship?

Because we oversee every stitch in our own workroom, we stand behind the quality of our tailoring unconditionally. We also honor all manufacturer warranties on premium hardware and Somfy motorization systems.

Products & Motorization

Can my custom drapery or Roman shades be motorized?

Absolutely. We are specialists in smart home automation and partner with industry leaders like Somfy. We can integrate whisper-quiet motorized tracks into your drapery or install automated lift systems for Roman shades. Options include both hardwired setups for new builds and rechargeable battery motors for existing spaces.

What styles of drapery do you craft?

We handcraft all luxury window dressings, including sleek Modern Ripplefold (perfect for floor-to-ceiling windows and condos), Classic Pinch Pleat (double or triple), Custom Roman Shades, and layered treatments utilizing blackout linings and delicate sheers.

Do you provide the fabrics?

Yes. During your design consultation, we provide an extensive, curated library of premium fabrics, interlinings, and hardware. We help you select the perfect weight, weave, and opacity to achieve your desired architectural aesthetic.

Process, Timelines & Installation

What areas do you serve?

We provide in-home consultations, professional measuring, and expert installation across the entire Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our primary service areas include Bolton, Vaughan, King City, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Toronto, and the surrounding luxury communities.

What is the typical lead time for a custom project?

Our standard production timeline is typically 4 to 6 weeks from the moment your selected luxury fabrics arrive at our Bolton workroom. Because every piece is meticulously handcrafted, highly intricate designs or specialized motorization integrations may require slight adjustments to this timeline.

Do you install the drapery yourselves?

Yes. The journey doesn't end at the sewing machine. We employ an in-house, white-glove installation team. Because our installers work directly with our sewing workroom, they understand exactly how the treatments were engineered to hang, ensuring your tracks, motors, and fabrics are mounted flawlessly.
